Herbal Ingredients of Gan Mai Da Zao Tang

Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, Licorice Root) – 9g.

-nourish heart, harmonize middle jiao

Fu Xiao Mai (Semen Tritici Aestivi Levis, Light Wheat Grain (unripe Wheat)) – 9-15g.

-tonify Qi, nourish yin, regulates heart

Da Zao (Fructus Ziziphi Jujubae, Chinese Date, Jujube) – 10g.

-tonify Qi, nourish fluids

Additional Information on Gan Mai Da Zao Tang

This herbal formula is traditionally used to treat “restless organ” (Zang Zao) due to emotional conditions. The restless “organ” was referred to as the womb by You Zai Jing (18th century author) while Wu Qian believed that it referred to the heart.

According to the modern physician Wu De Xi this herbal formula should also be used for menopausal symptoms, premenstrual symptoms, post partum palpitations and severe sweating post partum as long as the root of these symptoms is yin deficiency of both heart and spleen.

When the appropriate symptoms are present this chinese medicine formula is able to treat such disorders as hysteria, neurosis, menopausal syndrome, autonomic dystonia, enuresis and fever due to an unknown origin.
