Well, it was only a matter of time in my opinion before the ethical side of IVF popped back up. Since the 80’s IVF has done nothing but become more accepted, to the point we are at today,…anyone with money can do an IVF. Well, government in Arizona has decided to thwart this progressive forward movement and strap huge legislation on who can do IVF and when. Basically, it comes down to ethics. I guess the church is coming back into power, as the proposed laws will make it very difficult and scary for both the doctor and the patient to ever want to create more embryos than they can use, because if they use these embryos in an unwarranted way (transferring too many), or freeze them and when thawing an embryo dies, they can be up for class 6 felony charges, jail time. I am not writing here to say that this is either right or wrong, but I do have to say, that I believe that the ethical practice of reproductive medicine has disappeared in today’s medical culture of capitalist doctors that have to answer to their share holders.
